"No matter what, the show must go on!"
―Marvin (Gone Fishin')

Marvin the Tap-Dancing Horse is a Canadian/Korean animated television show produced by Nelvana that first aired on Teletoon on March 5, 2000. It tells the stories of a young horse named Marvin who is part of a carnival. Among the executive producers are Michael Paraskevas and Betty Paraskevas, creators of the book of the same name, as well as Maggie and the Ferocious Beast. In the United States, the series aired on PBS Kids as part of the PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch from 2000 to 2004. In 2007, reruns of the show began airing on Qubo.

Some episodes include original songs to help illustrate the theme or accompany montages that carry the story forward.

Premise

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Flyover Land's Carnival! Come on under the Big Top and spend time with Eddy, a nine-year-old boy who got a summer job working with the animals and found out he could actually talk to them! Created by the talented and popular mother and son team, Betty and Michael Paraskevas, this animated series follows the adventures of Eddy and his new-found friends: Marvin the Tap-Dancing horse, Diamonds the Elephant, Elizabeth the Emotional Pig and Stripes the Tiger.

Trivia

  • When reran on Qubo, scenes were sometimes cut for time (justified, as it was intended to air on PBS stations as well as the first iteration of the PBS Kids Channel).
  • Despite lacking an E/I bug on recent airings, the show still teaches good morals and educational songs.
